Welcome to the 604 Squadron website.

604 squadron in Warbirds was formed four years ago in the Relaxed Arena by mcmcmc, Trb, and myself, all three of us had been involved briefly in the skirmishes around the old med terrain with the regular squadrons that inhabited the arena at that time, names like the Lost Patrol, the 97th Wolf Pack, The (dreaded) Twelve, remember them?

We could only "fly" at the weekends due to work commitments, so we decided to base our squadron on the Royal Auxiliary air Force, these real life squadrons were "part time" weekend squadrons, often refered to as the best private flying club in England!!

604 had its roots in Hendon Middlesex not far from where mcmcmc lives, and their wartime home was at North Weald in Essex not far from where trb and myself live, so there was only one squadron that we could possibly be, so as a result 604 Sqdn(County Of Middlesex) royal Auxiliary Air force was "reformed".

We witnessed mass air attacks on airfields and watched in awe as a dozen or so ground attack aircraft decimated our defences while from above a carpet of bombs fell, what could we do? well we defended! the three of us! and we did rather well i might add, so much so that we got SALUTE's from our opponents for not giving in, and that has stayed with us to this day.

For about a year our numbers stayed on the low side, to be honest I couldnt see 604 Squadron getting anywhere, but slowly our membership grew, and can now boast of having some very talented people indeed!. Now the squadron has developed to the point of being one of the well known squads that belong to the RR, now the Fighter Ops arena. We like to think of ourselves as slightly different, we try to maintain the honour, and always try to do the Gentlemanly thing!, there is no strict regime of Rank and command, we are a democratic lot too, we listen and learn from our members, and all have contributed much to what I describe as their squad.
